Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Gather ingredients & carefully grate the onion. Once grated use a paper towel to soak up or wring out excess moisture.
Add ground turkey, grated onion, garlic, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, kosher salt, & ground black pepper to a larger bowl. Use hands to mix until just combined but be careful not to overmix which will lead to tough burgers.
Divide the turkey burger mixture into 4 even portions, about 1/3 pound each. Lightly coat your hands in oil & form each portion into a 1-inch thick patty. The mixture will be wet but form into a general shape. Then transfer to a baking sheet & chill for 20 minutes in the freezer.
While the turkey burgers chill, preheat the grill for medium-high direct heat grilling, about 450 degrees F. Just before placing burgers on the grill - use grill tongs to run an oiled paper towel along the grill grates to prevent sticking.
Remove burgers from the freezer & finish forming into patties. Use your thumb to create an indent in the center of each patty. Press each burger patty down onto the prepared grates. Grill the burgers 6 mins per side or until the internal temperature reads 160 degrees F with an instant-read thermometer.
Allow the turkey burgers to rest for a few minutes. The residual heat will increase the internal temperature to 165 degrees F before serving. Pair with your favorite buns & toppings.
